UEC confirms third phase of 2025 general election for January 25

The Union Election Commission (UEC) announced the date and participating townships for the third phase of the multi-party democratic general election on the evening of December 25.
According to the announcement, the third phase will follow the previously declared phases: Phase 1, covering 102 townships, scheduled for December 28, 2025, under Announcement No. (56/2025) issued on August 20, 2025; and Phase 2, covering 100 townships, set for January 11, 2026, under Announcement No. (141/2025) issued on October 28, 2025.
The third part of the election, scheduled for January 25, will cover 63 townships: 17 townships in Yangon Region, five townships in Kachin State, two townships in Kayin State, two townships in Sagaing Region, three townships in Tanintharyi Region, eight townships in Bago Region, eight townships in Mandalay Region, nine townships in Shan State, and nine townships in Ayeyarwady Region.
On December 11, Senior General emphasized that following the elections, the responsibilities of the State will be handed over to the new government formed after convening Parliament. He further highlighted that conducting the elections successfully is a matter of national prestige and urged all stakeholders to work together to ensure smooth operations at all polling stations.
