Ministry reports 300 bridges constructed, 47 destroyed by terrorists in five years

Figures fro the Ministry of Construction show that while the government built 300 bridges between 2021 and March 2026, 47 were destroyed in terrorist mine blasts.
Over this five-year span, the ministry completed 300 bridges: 103 measuring 180 feet or more, and 197 under 180 feet.
During the same period, 47 bridges were damaged or destroyed as a result of bomb attacks carried out by terrorists.
Of the bridges destroyed by explosives, 11 have been temporarily repaired and 6 have been permanently rebuilt as reinforced concrete structures. At present, 5 bridges remain under repair, while 36 are still awaiting restoration.
Furthermore, as of March this year, a total of 91 bridges were damaged by the major Mandalay earthquake and subsequent aftershocks across four regions and states, including the Yangon–Mandalay Expressway.
So far, 64 damaged bridges have been permanently rebuilt, eight have been temporarily restored, while 27 are still waiting for repair.
Similarly, between 2021 and 2025, the Ministry of Construction completed the construction of 17,819 housing units in total, including 5,794 public rental housing units, 5,600 public staff housing units, and 6,425 for-sale units. –
